Step up! Cut Loose!

Do you ever get the big huge urge to DOsomething, write something, scream something, create something big, loud, and impressive? It is the kind of urge that demands attention and a wild heart, the kind of primal urge that will not be denied. It is that strong feeling thatcompels us to write a song or poem, paint a bold painting, solve a never before solved math problem, or maybe write a blog or even a book.

I call it “the creative impulse.” It is that impulse that propels us forward. This creative impulse can also be called the “evolutionary impulse.” Without it, we would still be back to a time when there were no innovations -- no anesthesia, no electricity, and no internet for that matter. This impulse drives us to the next level of consciousness. It calls us to wake up to what is possible. This is the impulse that keeps us living, reproducing, and creating.

What do you do with your creative impulse? Do you smother it under a layer of shame or fear? Are you afraid of rejection or humiliation? Is it so covered in self-loathing that it doesn’t rise up anymore?

I say, “GET OVER IT!” This planet, your relationships, your wider community needs your creativity! Only you observe and feel the way you do. You connect the dots in a unique way. There are a lot of dots that need connecting these days and it is time for you and me to step up and reveal our own evolutionary impulse! You never know, it might be the biggest, best idea ever or it might be something small that makes one person feel better for one minute or one day. That is no less valuable.

Follow that creative impulse. Be bold and brave. Let loose and watch evolution occur.
